I’m always excited to see little Kailani and her mom when they visit from Hawaii. Yet, wondering why anyone would leave a beautiful island wrapped in golden sun and white beaches to come to gloomy, cold KC in the middle of winter?!? Joking aside, I’m grateful none the less to see their beautiful tan faces and I know all their friends and family are too! We’re just jealous of all that natural vitamin D they’re getting.

I always look forward to spending time with Kailani, often with camera in tow. My time with her is like a play date and I’m just capturing a memory of it. We recently got together to play at the park on an usually warm day for November, must be that bit of Hawaii they brought with them. Kailani had to call a time-out on her our picture taking to tell the ducks in a near-by pond “to keep it down”… however, she promptly returns to tell us the ducks “told her to keep it down”. Those are some bossy ducks. It has been such a joy as a family friend and a photographer to capture her first steps and to see her grow into this witty (and sassy) little girl. I seriously great big puffy heart this kiddo.

I’m still trying to figure out how to be a stowaway in their luggage home.

Until we meet again, me ke aloha (with love),
Amy & Mandee
