As a surprise to Mandee today, I wanted to share a few pictures from the baby shower we recently gave her. I know she would say this blog post sounds really “Hallmarkie,” it’s a joke between us. She’s right, but sometimes you just gotta get all sentimental and mushy! So grab a cup of coffee and keep reading, it will wash down all the sweet.
Mandee and her hubby, James, celebrate their ten year anniversary today. So here’s a great big HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you lovebirds!!! A milestone like that simply shouldn’t go by without a big Mandee size WAHOOOO!!! It’s been quite the year for these two, as they are about to embark on a whole new exciting journey together – it’s called “Baby Charlie.”
From the moment Mandee told her sister-in-law, Aimee and I (the other Amy) that she and James were expecting their first baby… we immediately started planning her shower. It was like “operation Charlie” full steam ahead! For months we planned every detail. Can we say thank goodness for Pinterest these days!
Mandee and I had photographed a wedding at the Historic Stanley event space in Lee’s Summit, Missouri last year and I knew how much she loved that place. So it was a no brainer choosing the Stanley for her baby shower – we knew that would make it extra special. I remember the night I told her so many months ago, it went like this…
Our hubbies were working super late and she had me over so I wouldn’t be lonely (or scared to be home alone, she knows me well). I remember she had a little bed made up in her office (now Charlie’s nursery) in case I wanted to stay the night. She’s just always thoughtful like that. I recall thinking I should stay, as this might be our last all-night girlfriend chat for a long while. Then as we sat on her bed, she was all curled up in her pink and white stripe pj’s sporting her little baby bump – we chatted away and she unknowingly reassured me there would likely be many nights she might need a late-night girl chat… new baby = a lot of sleepiness nights. The point is that no matter the journey we are on… we will always need our friendship, someone who shares your fears and joys and supports you along the way. I remember telling her then, that we were having her baby shower at the Stanley and she totally burst into tears (happy tears)… might have been the pregnancy hormones but either way she was really happy. That’s all that mattered.
We wanted the baby shower to reflect Mandee’s style, as her and I both always say, love is in the details. I think that was pretty evident, but the most important thing was for her to know how incredibly happy her family and friends are for her and James. We want them to know that they encourage us, inspire us and we think hands down they are going to be the coolest parents ever! Charlie is one lucky little dude and we can’t wait to meet him!
We love you Mandee, James and Charlie. Muah!
